Pepin Academies

Pepin Academies is honored to be the recipient of the 2019 Avila Charity Tennis Tournament. We are so grateful for your support, which will aid in advancing our mission and helping the children we serve because we know all too well that school can be a scary place for children with learning disabilities. They often have difficulty adapting and learning in a traditional classroom setting and many are bullied for being “different”. Pepin Academies provides an environment where our students’ academic journey is a positive experience from their first day until graduation and beyond. For nearly 20 years, Pepin Academies has been offering students a place to learn in an environment where they are free to be themselves. At Pepin Academies, we believe that belonging leads to learning and that is why the Pepin family has been involved since the beginning.

As public tuition-free charter schools, Pepin Academies serves over 1,000 students in Hillsborough and Pasco counties with wide range of learning disabilities including, but not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyslexia, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Tourette ’s syndrome, Language Impaired and ADHD. All of our core subject teachers are Exceptional Student Education (ESE) certified. In addition to a rigorous academic program, Pepin Academies offers our students the opportunity to participate in sports, clubs, student government, art, theater/dance, proms and many other school activities not usually available to this population. Pepin Academies also offers a transitional work program for students 18-22 to provide them with real-life work experience and partners with many major companies in the Tampa Bay area.

Let us tell you about one of our many success stories. Javier Rivera came to Pepin Academies Tampa as a middle school student in 2002 and, at the time of admission, could not write two legible sentences due to a communication disorder. After receiving help from his teachers and speech therapy, which, along with occupational and physical therapies, is offered at no charge to our students, he flourished and graduated in 2008 as valedictorian. He recently graduated from USF with a Bachelor’s in Speech Therapy and began his master’s program in Speech Therapy at Nova Southeastern in August. That is why we do what we do.
We are proud of our long history of providing students like Javier the opportunity to engage, learn, belong and ultimately become proud Pepin Academies’ graduates.
